Watercolor & Stencil Art Cards

Painting with watercolors using stencils is a fun technique once you get a handle on your watercolors. Elise from Grow Creative has a very informative tutorial with lots of photos. Here is my try at it.

Round Robin #31

Here is the latest from the Round Robin Cross Stitch Sampler swap. This is a very small and fun sampler. Since it has lots of blue in it and the fact that the owner of this piece likes Disney, I decided to stitch a tiara to represent all the Princesses in the Disney world.

Cute Monster ATC

I'm not into those scary or gory Monsters that are out there these days. I love the cute ones. So, for this swap, the requirement was to make a cute monster. Mine is cross between a Mummified Pumpkin Dressed as a Hippy. What do you think? And yes... it was Zentangled.

Zen Doodle Owl ATC

For this swap, I made a Zen Doodle Owl ATC. My inspiration came from the book, "Zen Doodling" by Carolyn Scrace. Materials used were Ink Pen, Watercolors, and Salt.

Swap-bot's 10th Anniversary Mail Art Swap

It is Swap-Bot's 10th Anniversary. Because of this, Rachel hosted a fun swap for us. A mail art swap. Never done mail art to this extent. But hey... it was a challenge and absolutely fun. I used Ernie the envelope as inspiration with the art of Zendoodle and it took off from there.

First off.... The Envelope:

The front features the USPS Eagle, surrounded by flowers.

The back features Ernie the Envelope (Swap-Bot's Mascot), in disguise.

Next... The ATC:

The front features Ernie sending Swap-bot some mail art.

The back features the envelope sealed with a heart.

This ATC has been drawn with ink pen, colored with colored pencils and sealed with gloss medium on both sides.

These works of art are traveling to a fellow swapper in Canada.

As I was sending off this colorful envelope at my local Post Office, the Mail Clerk was is awe of my drawings and delivered wonderful comments about my work.

** Have a safe trip Ernie!!! **

UPDATE: I was notified on October 23rd that Ernie arrived safely to his destination.

Cute Halloween ATC

I thought long and hard for something as a Cute Halloween ATC and came up with this one. A boy hugging his new friend "Jack". Of course he is a pumpkin (Jack o' Lantern), but he doesn't mind. Friends come in all shapes and sizes.

The lettering is a downloadable font, Shaded Chalk Hand Lettering, that I thought would be fitting. However, I did not download it, just copied the lettering onto my card.

Zentangle Butterfly ATC

Here's another Zentangle ATC that I created. I used the butterfly pattern from the Painting on Glass blog and went from there... adding a splash of watercolor.

Cross Stitch ATC's 0 and 9

This is the first time I have ever made cross stitched ATC's. These ones are part of a number series, so I thought they would be simple enough to try. Nope. It was hard to find charts with special stitched numbers on them. So, I dealt with the basic ones and went from there. When I was done stitching them, the hardest part was to decide how I wanted to place them on the cardboard and decorate. They turned out good, but wish they were better though. As the number series goes on, I'll try different techniques and see if those would work out better. We'll see. So here they are... Introducing numbers 0 and 9.

Number 9: Cross Stitch & Country Crafts Magazine: Sample Issue (pg. 5)

The chart for the #0 does not exist. I eyeballed a chart from The Cross Stitch Collection magazine and went from there. It's not exactly the same, so it's my own design. I started out with the outline and filled it in (which I have never done before). This one was fun.

Halloween ATC's

There are two swaps that went hand-in-hand with each other because of the Halloween theme and that they were in the same group. Here are my Halloween ATC's.

I absolutely love Black Cats. I had one for 13 years named Mr. Bip. Can't wait to get another one in the next few years. And of course.... I love to draw pumpkins as you can tell by this blog. lol
